I create large photo prints that are both silver gelatin and inkjet. My focus is often self portraiture but while building physical and mental landscapes. The analog prints are high contrast monochrome but interested in experimenting with colored analog processes while the inkjet prints are colorful and expressive, often abstracted. My printmaking focuses on screen-printing with themes of oceanic relations.
I focus on using alternative processes for my analog work. I use the mordancage process to create physical veils and degradation of the print. For my digital work, constant colored lighting is used to create moody otherworldly self portraits, using still and long exposure techniques. With printmaking I use layering and photo-realistic images to create other worlds.
Personal experiences and feelings are always at the core of my work. The work is often about obsession, addiction, self, memory, environmental issues, and religion. To reflect this, performing to the camera is important, while treating the physical camera as a reflection of myself fighting for autonomy and privacy. Mirrors and self reflection are common motifs in my work, as an object that traps the performer and viewer. Our relationship with the ocean is important to my work, creating alternate worlds to criticize our own.
